Claws for Paws, a recognized 501(c)(3), was created in 2008 by concerned animal lovers to raise funds to aid animal welfare organizations in Rome-Floyd County. Over the years, funds raised by Claws for Paws have aided these groups in ways both great and small from low-cost spay and neuter programs to a new HVAC system at Floyd County Animal Control (FCAC) to helping purchase a transport van for Animal Rescue Foundation Rome-Floyd County.
The organization has partnered with Animal Companion Rescue and their mission to facilitate rescues and adoptions from FCAC. In 2015, Animal Companion Rescue rescued over 2,000 dogs from FCAC which helped drastically reduce the canine euthanasia rate in Floyd County.
In 2016, Claws for Paws held the 1st Annual Run for the Rescues party raising over $25,000 for their organization as well as for Red Clay Equine Rescue and Cedartown Animal Rescue, Education, and Sterilization. This year, the party of the summer now renamed Rome for the Rescues, will take place on Friday, June 23 at Lawrence Plantation. Click here for more details. Don’t miss out on the party of the summer!
